Packaging is part of the product specification. It affects unit cost, freight volume, product protection, barcode control and the way a retailer receives the goods. Packaging requirements should be included in the RFQ, not added after production is ready.
Identify the sales channel
State whether the product will be sold online, displayed in a retail store, supplied to clubs or packed in bulk for distribution. The sales channel helps determine whether the project needs a simple bag and label, a printed card, a retail box or stronger transit protection.

Category differences
- Gloves may use an individual OPP bag, card or retail box.
- Chalk needs a defined number of pieces per package and protection against breakage or contamination.
- Cue tips need clear hardness, diameter and piece-count identification.
- Cue extensions need surface and connector protection.
- Cue cases require larger-volume packing and protection for straps, hardware and shape.
Artwork and barcode responsibility
Provide final production-ready files and approved text. Buyers should verify trademark rights, barcode data, importer information, warnings and local requirements for the destination market. The supplier should not invent regulated wording on the buyer's behalf.
Approve a packing sample
Check dimensions, material, print, color, spelling, barcode readability, pieces per pack and product fit. Confirm whether the packing sample is made from final materials. Packaging changes after approval can alter cost, carton size and lead time.
Freight cost begins with carton data
Air freight and express charges may be affected by both actual and volumetric weight. A final freight estimate normally requires the completed packing configuration, carton dimensions, carton weight and destination. Do not treat an early estimate as final before the packing list is confirmed.
MOQ and production
The standard customized MOQ is 500 pcs, but printed packaging may have its own production constraints. The product and packaging quantities should be reviewed together. Sample development normally takes 7-15 days, while bulk production normally takes 30-35 days after all approvals.
